Another week, another set of Premier League matches. And this week’s are sponsored by The Krypton Factor: devilishly difficult to predict.
Cardiff are new to the Premier League. They meet a Newcastle side adept defensively, but without a real Mickey ‘Sumo’ Quinn-type goal-getter. Cardiff are simply an unknown. Newcastle, I feel, may have too much nous. Newcastle not to lose is my call here.
West Ham have Pelligrini at the helm, and again, that throws a spanner in the prediction works vs Bournemouth. New managers = new tactics = new results.
Fulham play a second London derby and will find Tottenham too tough. Kane yet to score – back him to score today?
Everton vs Southampton: more new-manager-syndrome: we know new managers = new tactics = new results, therefore too tough to call. I would, if pushed, side with Everton here not to lose.
Southampton attack is blunt. How they’d dream of a modern Le Tiss and Shearer.
Little to learn from Wolves’ 2-2 vs largely ten-man Everton. They play a Leicester with quality they did not meet in the Premiership. I am a Wolves fan, but I see troubles today. A local derby feel.
Chelsea and Arsenal sees the market with Chelsea. Remnants of Arsenal’s Wenger-esque inability to beat top-six away from home? This should be tight, so laying Chelsea at odds-on (1.84 currently) may have legs. It’s low liability.
Burnley did great against Basaksehir, a second consecutive 0-0 and winning in the Europa League after extra time. They will be tough to score against. Good result for Watford vs Brighton, but Brighton are no Burnley.
Back 0-0 pre-match if you fancy Burnley to continue the 0-0 trail (I tend to cash out at halftime) – 1-0 or 2-0 my possible outcomes today.
Huddersfield conceded three goals vs Chelsea and are likely to be put to the sword by Man City: 0-0 at home last season. Fancy a big gamble? Back 0-0 pre-match.
Brighton entertain Man Utd and did beat them 1-0 at home last season. United fail to sparkle. Penalty opener does not impress. Value may be in laying United at 1.79; better yet if United score first.
Fancy a mug punter accumulator (the bet the bookies love to take as they’re hard to get in)? I’d be backing Burnley, Tottenham, Everton +1 goal , Newcastle +1 goal, Man City +3 goals.
