If you look at the upcoming UK and Ireland racing venues, you can’t help but notice an increased frequency of All-Weather racing.

We have three All-Weather meetings today, two tomorrow, and at least one venue all next week, beginning Monday.

The All-Weather is a unique surface which comes into its own in this winter period. Here are the All-Weather venues:

  • Lingfield
  • Wolverhampton
  • Southwell
  • Newcastle
  • Dundalk
  • Chelmsford
  • Kempton

And it is a surface I think you should pay particular attention to.

At www.whatreallywinsmoney.co.uk I have two particular All-Weather strategies. The first strategy lays favourites in certain All-Weather races as long as the favourite’s odds are 1.5 or lower.

Yes, I was surprised too at the 2+ years of profit from a focus on such short-priced favourites. This is down to two key ingredients:

  • The race type
  • The staking plan.

My other All-Weather strategy is another contrarian strategy. I look to back the favourites who have the worst record at each All-Weather venue. These are predominantly handicap races.

Again, you may think I have lost my marbles, but this strategy has made long-term profits and is included at www.whatreallywinsmoney.co.uk.

Your own ideas?

Here I hope to generate some ideas for you in order to create your own All-Weather racing strategy.

Draw bias

There is a school of thought that the stall from which a horse runs, can affect its chances. Ask anyone who has been to Chester and you will see an exaggerated example of the draw bias in effect.
This website https://www.flatstats.co.uk/draw-stats.php is an excellent free resource for you and can give you an at-a-glance report into the favoured draws at the four UK All-Weather tracks featured.

There are 10 years worth of stats available here. Have a play around. Look at results by distance. (The shorter the distance, the more profound the influence of a negative draw?)

Stall 4 at Lingfield has had only four winners from 94 races in 5-furlong races! Yikes.

Stall 2 at new venue Newcastle has not seen a winner in 28 races over 5 furlongs.

It is tools like this free resource above that I use to generate my betting ideas. (I wrote a complete article on this in January’s newsletter.)

Basically, use the internet to generate your ideas via free stats sites such as the one above, or more advanced ‘data mining’ sites.

My close showbiz pal Mr. Google can provide food for thought. Take this post as an example

Now before you tell me that the results are horrendous for the backer remember this: we are living in the world of laying as well as backing!

My other close showbiz pal Betfair itself provides some ideas you might want to follow up on: click here.

With only a handful of venues, the All-Weather is a real niche that you should consider. The creation of a betting system is a long-term affair. I am happy to do the heavy-lifting for you so please email me if any All-Weather ideas spring to mind that you would like me to record results on, and do the number crunching for!
