Selections for Friday 24th October 2014

I wrote an article for my eletter on this subject, focussing on Banker Bets and showing you how we can profit from them.

I’ll list some apparent “bankers” in this post, and time permitting, will try to do this daily. I try to look for 1.1 odds or higher. The goal is to win back your initial stake and bank that immediately, then play on, banking profits every £10 or so.

This is not a strategy where I’m trying to create the biggest odds returns. I want a “banker”, a bet which is obvious.

Yesterday

805pm – Mgladbach v Apollon Limassol – 1.24 home – Apollon tend to concede a few in the Europa League 5-0 win

805pm – Torino v HJK Helsinki – 1.44 home – not really banker bet odds but I am taken with Torino’s clean sheets in the Europa League. If they can score , that should suffice 2-0 win

Tennis

1230pm – Serena Williams v Eugenie Bouchard  – 1.18 Serena. Having just been spanked by Simona Halep, Serena got in his car and headed off to the gym to do some weights. I don’t expect Mike Tyson’s twin brother to lose 2 consecutive matches. We’ll see. It’s a bet of circumstances today rather than form research. Bouchard is a class act too. – 2-0 set win for Serena

145pm –  Andy Murray v Fabio Fognini  1.13 Andy – 2 set win yesterday and Fognoni I feel is a little light weight. Remember the motivation for London for Andy Murray – 2 sets to nil win

3pm – Donald Young v Milos Raonic  – 1.16 Raonic – let us down recently and still has London aspirations. 2 sets t0 1 win for Raonic. Very tough match for him as I suspected.

5pm –  Roger Federer v Denis Istomin  – 1.05 Federer – another 2 set to love win today?  2-1 it ended and had I researched I would have related that Istomin took a set off Federer in this competition last year. Fed was backable at 1.37 after losing the first set.

Today

12pm – Andy Murray v Kevin Anderson  – 1.17 Murray. Eyes still on London and a good showing in Valencia could help Murray secure that London berth. Anderson on his day is a troubling player.

145pm – David Ferrer v Thomaz Bellucci  – 1.17 Ferrer – I saw 1.42 odds about Ferrer yesterday and toyed with including him. I do hope I have not missed the boat, as his odds have been lowered today ( usually the odds go up as a player goes deeper into a tournament).

5pm – Borna Coric v Rafael Nadal  – 1.11 Nadal. Seeing Nadal at 1.29 odds earlier this tournament against a player I had never heard of, led me to think Rafa had a niggling injury. He has since played superbly, and like Ferrer, his odds are much lower now. He’s in Spain and will be looking to go deep.

7pm – Roger Federer v Grigor Dimitrov  – 1.29 Fed – Federer v Mini-Fed it is being billed. Last night Federer showed his battling qualities coming from a set down to win 2-1. This is probably the riskiest banker bet today because if Dimitrov clicks, he will really test Fed. But Roger is at home in Basel and that surely must count for something.

 Football

17:30 UK Greuther Furth v FSV Frankfurt – 1.4 home – 4th v bottom of the league currently and Greuther tend to score 2 goals at home. A hope they can repeat that and FSV continue to under perform.
