Bankers or Blowouts

I wrote an article for my eletter on this subject, focussing on Banker Bets and showing you how we can profit from them.

I’ll list some apparent “bankers” in this post, and time permitting, will try to do this daily. I try to look for 1.1 odds or higher. The goal is to win back your initial stake and bank that immediately, then play on, banking profits every £10 or so.

This is not a strategy where I’m trying to create the biggest odds returns. I want a “banker”, a bet which is obvious.

Bankers and Blowouts – the mini-DRT angle.

www.drt.club is my trading service where I do all of my football research. I have noticed that these bankers, whilst sometimes frustrating us with score draws and throwing away 2-0 leads, rarely lose matches. How can you profit? Well are you familiar with football trading? That is, reacting to how a match unfolds in-play? If you are then you would have taken on faith the fact that these bankers rarely lose, and layed Dundee in play , when they were 1-3 up to bankers Aberdeen. Final score ( as you see below), 3-3. How about more frustrating bar stewards like Club Brugge the other day against Mechelen.

Staying with our premis that Bankers rarely lose, what could you have done if Mechelen ( as they did) take the lead? Lay Mechelen! Better yet, what if the match was still 0-1 coming to 90 minutes? Lay Mechelen at lower odds for potentially greater profit! You know what happened next, I am sure. Club Brugge equalised in the 90th minute.

I have already mentioned the idea of laying a team 2-0 up, to lock in profit. Consider the above elements too , in order to maximise the premis that Bankers rarely lose.

Just an added note regarding staking. If the strike rate remains as high as it is, I would recommend staying with level stakes, but re-calculating every 20 bets  which would have produced a bank of 747 pounds from an initial 100 pounds in November. Increasing the frequency to re-calculating 10% of the betting bank every 10 bets does extract a little more profit.

Plenty to ponder there. If you increase the % of bank bet, of course, then things really start getting exciting ( but ever the cautious, I’d have to warn you that it would be a big fall from grace if we hit a losing run)

At this juncture, level stakes is the only realistic staking option as some bets kick off at the same time. If you wanted other options, then select one bet at one time, as long as the next bet began after the 1st bet ended. This way you could employ “reactive” staking.

By selecting one bet for a specific time, the number of bets reduces from 225 to 137. Is there any advantage in reactive staking? Let’s take a look.

http://www.thestakingmachine.com/pro.php is the staking plan of interest, betting 20% of the bank ( as the assumed strike rate will continue to be high), turned 100 pounds on 22 November 2014 into 1356.48 as of today. ( as you can tell I don’t have apound sign on my keyboard lol).

We can employ a higher risk staking I think with assumed higher strike rate strategies. If doing , I would strongly urge you to withdraw initial seed money once the bank has doubled to allow you tdivisioo employ these higher risk strategies using OPM  – other people’s money.

Yesterday

  • Federer 3-0, Lopez won. West Ham scored before halftime. Aberdeen scored first but ended 1-1.Zilina won easily v Glentoran

Today

no football for me today. Irish Football looks reasonable but no strong bankers. Tennis research below.

Wimbledon  @whatreallywins

Not sure how long I will be tweeting today as the matches are getting tighter .

1215pm – Nick Kyrgios v Milos Raonic – 1.5 Milos

  • 29th v 8th in the rankings.
  • 2 3-0 wins for Nick so far. 3-1 and 3-1 for Milos Raonic. twice now he was 2-0 up and dropped the 3rd set.
  • If Raonic is 2-0 up, lay him in the set betting .
  • I do expect both players to get a set. Lay the first set winner 3-0

1215pm – Marcos Baghdatis v David Goffin – 1.64 Goffin

  • Baggy still showing well and remember did beat Ferrer on grass in Nottingham. Note though that we have not seen Ferrer this Wimbledon , he looks like he was injured. David Goffin was superb against Liam Broady. 3-1 and 3-2 for Baggy. If he wins the first set, lay him .
  • 7-6, 6-1, 6-1 in both matches so far for Goffin. Will we see a tie breaker first set?

1pm – Grigor Dimitrov v Richard Gasquet – 1.78 Grigor

  • 11th v 20th. 0-4 for Gasquet in head to heads suggests Grigor will not be winning 3-0 today.
  • Both players have 3-0 set wins so far. Arguably, Gasquet has had the easier ride, as shown by his 2 sub 1.1 quotes.
  • 3-0 set betting odds are a bit high to lay. This should be a humdinger. Lay any player 2-0 sets up.

1pm – Stan Wawrinka v Fernando Verdasco – 1.21 Stan

  • 4th v 43rd in the rankings.
  • 1-2 for Verdasco in head to heads.
  • 2 3-2 Verdasco wins so far against 3-0 for Stan .
  • If Stan is 2-0 up, lay him in the 3-0 set betting as he has had 7-5, 7-6 ( match 1), 7-5 in final sets

145pm – Belinda Bencic v Bethanie Mattek-Sands – 1.4 Bel

  • 22nd v 158th in the rankings.
  • 0-1 to Sands in head to heads.
  • 2-1 2-1 for Belinda so far this Wimbledon. Mattek-Sands beat Ana Ivanovic -a shock result or a showing of true form.
  • If the latter, lay Bencic if she wins the first set.

145pm – Leonardo Mayer v Kevin Anderson – 1.51 Kevin

  • 21st v 14th in the rankings. This is going to be tight. 1.51 Anderson is layable but in order to see a big swing in the odds, we will need to see Mayer winning the first set and breaking the 2nd.
  • 3.65 for 3-0 Anderson to lay is reasonable if a bit big for my usual laying.
  • 1-2 to Anderson in head to heads.
  • 3 7-6 tie breaker sets already for Mayer suggests he will make Anderson work today. 2 7-6 tie breakers for Anderson in his last match.
  • This should not be a 3-0 set win today

230pm – Sloane Stephens v Lucie Safarova – 1.78 Lucie

  • 37th v 6th in the rankings.
  • 0-1 to Safarova in head to heads.
  • 3 6-4 sets in 4 for Sloane Stephens suggests she has a plan.  This will be a test for Safarova. I will lay her if she wins the first set. Sloane Stephens has looked good so far.

230pm – Coco Vandeweghe v Samantha Stosur – 1.77 Coco

  • I like Sam Stosur and this is the first match she is not a favourite at Wimbledon.
  • 2-1 to Coco in head to heads.
  • 47th v 23rd in the rankings.2-0 to each player so far this Wimbledon. A 7-6 for Coco in her last match first set.
  • I would lay the first set winner here as we might see a battling 2nd set. A slight step up for Sam. Interesting that she is not the favourite despite having the best ranking.

315pm – Denis Kudla v Santiago Giraldo – 1.56 Denis

  • 105th v 60th, 2 of the highest ranked men’s players remaining.
  • Kudla has dropped sets in each match so if winning the first set, he should not win 3-0 so if the market is liquid, lay him in the 3-0 market.

315pm – Novak Djokovic v Bernard Tomic – 1.03 Novak

  • 1st v 26th. I have been opposing Tomic this campaign as he is inconsistent. One profitable lay and another at 1.18 was not successful as his odds dropped instantly.
  • 4-0 head to heads Novak.
  • Niemenem was not a match we learned anything from . Novak did come back quickly from a break in the first set so don’t under-estimate his powers of recovery should Tomic break. And prepare in the 3-0 set betting market if he is broken. Or even the 1st set winner market. I backed Novak at 1.45 ( big odds for a 1.01 shot!!) in the 1st set winner market when Niemenen was 3-1 up.
  • Tomic lucky to be here, 2 7-6 tie breakers last round was a reason I opposed him. Tie breakers are not convincing set wins.

315pm – Maria Sharapova v Irina-Camelia Begu – 1.06 Maria

  • 4th v 31st .
  • 1-0 head to heads for Maria
  • 2-0 2-0 for MAria. Thoroughly professional.
  • Begu has huffed and puffed to 76 6-1 first match and 7-5 6-7 7-5 last match.
  • She should not have enough to worry Maria today but I must lay Maria at 1.07 today. If Begu battles as she did against admittedly weaker opponents, she may do enough to worry the match odds. 1.27 to lay 2-0. I would lay 2-0 set betting if Maria wins the first set. I could see a tough 2nd set.

4pm – Zarina Diyas v Andrea Petkovic – 1.46 Andrea

  • 34th v 14th in the rankings
  • 1-1 in head to heads.
  • No strong opinions for me

4pm – Kristina Mladenovic v Victoria Azarenka – 1.29 Vic

  • 38th v 24th. I hope you see a sudden pattern today. Rankings are generally tighter. Betting markets are getting tighter.
  • I am keen to lay Azarenka today, and may lay her 1-0 up if she wins the first set.
  • I will admit, Azarenka has been excellent thus far, thoroughly professional and a return to her best.
  • I must, as I say, lay her if she wins the first set as we will get a short priced lay.

4pm – Aleksandra Krunic v Venus Williams – 1.18 Venus.

  • I layed Venus last time out and was nearly rewarded with a tie breaker win for her opponent first set. ‘Twas not to be . I am continuing to lay Venus Williams.
  • 82nd v 16th in the rankings.
  • Venus is vulnerable in my eyes today so I am very happy to lay him at 1.19

445pm – Marin Cilic v John Isner – 1.78 Marin

  • I foresee a tie breaker or two which does not make the favourite a strong favourite.
  • 9th v 17th in the rankings. I am of the impression that Cilic is not a true top 10 player. He is there because of a US Open win.
  • Both players have seen at least one tie breaker in their 2 Wimbledon matches thus far.
  • Lay any player who might go 2-0 up in sets.

530pm – Serena Williams v Heather Watson – 1.05 Serena

  • I have to lay Serena at 1.06 today. Heather’s 2-0 win last match was a surprise for me and signalled some grit. She may lose 2-0 and if so, then fair enough. But there is a chance.
