Selections for Saturday 31st January 2015

I wrote an article for my eletter on this subject, focussing on Banker Bets and showing you how we can profit from them.

I’ll list some apparent “bankers” in this post, and time permitting, will try to do this daily. I try to look for 1.1 odds or higher. The goal is to win back your initial stake and bank that immediately, then play on, banking profits every £10 or so.

This is not a strategy where I’m trying to create the biggest odds returns. I want a “banker”, a bet which is obvious.

Bankers and Blowouts – the mini-DRT angle.

www.drt.club is my trading service where I do all of my football research. I have noticed that these bankers, whilst sometimes frustrating us with score draws and throwing away 2-0 leads, rarely lose matches. How can you profit? Well are you familiar with football trading? That is, reacting to how a match unfolds in-play? If you are then you would have taken on faith the fact that these bankers rarely lose, and layed Dundee in play , when they were 1-3 up to bankers Aberdeen. Final score ( as you see below), 3-3. How about more frustrating bar stewards like Club Brugge the other day against Mechelen.

Staying with our premis that Bankers rarely lose, what could you have done if Mechelen ( as they did) take the lead? Lay Mechelen! Better yet, what if the match was still 0-1 coming to 90 minutes? Lay Mechelen at lower odds for potentially greater profit! You know what happened next, I am sure. Club Brugge equalised in the 90th minute.

I have already mentioned the idea of laying a team 2-0 up, to lock in profit. Consider the above elements too , in order to maximise the premis that Bankers rarely lose.

Yesterday

I am glad I left Bayern Munich alone. The reasoning was spot on and they crashed to a 4-1 defeat.

19:30 UK Paris Saint-Germain ( PSG) v Rennes – 1.25 home – 1-0 . PSG do put us through the ringer with their banker bets. The match was exactly as I expected. Rennes had trouble scoring and PSG kept their home goalscoring record intact with a single goal.

Today

15:00 UK Man Utd v Leicester – 1.33 home – I do not expect another 5-3 today. That 5-3 saw a transitional Man Utd who, now, have only 2 losses at home. They beat 2nd bottom and 3rd bottom 4-0 and 3-0 which is rather ominous for lowly Leicester.

United have lost only 1 of their last 12 matches, and have failed to score in only 4 matches.

As to Leicester, they have conceded at least 2 goals in all away matches v top 10 sides this season.

Leicester failed to score in 6 of 8 away matches v top 13 sides.

Leicester drew 2-2 v Liverpool but I think Liverpool led 2-0 in that match ( it was a banker and the 2-0 trade out was triggered!)

15:00 UK Hibernian v Raith Rovers – 1.4 home – Raith Rovers have a poor record against the big 3 ( Hearts, Hibs, Rangers,) in the Scottish Championship. Hibs have scored 2-3-4-1-3-5-2 in recent matches. They have kept 4 clean sheets in their last  5 matches.

Raith lost 1-3 to Hibs as recently as 20th December 2014. The one sticking point is Raith have kept 3 consecutive clean sheets away. I do return though to the argument of their form v top 3 in isolation.

15:00 UK Real Madrid v Real Sociedad – 1.2 home – the magnificently one dimensional David Moyes is likely to come unstuck against a Real Madrid at home who are on a 6 match winning streak at home, have scored in all matches this season, and have 15 wins and a loss in their last 16 matches.

Sociedad have no win in 9 away matches, and have lost away to all teams above them in the league. They have scored only 5 away goals all season so it simply looks a case of the home team outscoring the away team today.

15:30 UK Marseille v Evian – 1.36 home – ahh, le dodgy french league avec plus inconsistency. But here we have an Evian side who have no draw in 11 away matches ( limiting our options to home win, away win) and have conceded 2-4 goals in all away matches v top 10 teams. Evian have conceded in their last 7 away matches . Evian have lost all matches played against top 13 sides away this season.

Marseille have scored 2+ goals in all wins at home. No draw at home so again home win or away win are our potential options.A 10 match home winning streak is in stark contrast to poor away form. This puts the onus on winning home matches when expected to.

Yes, French Ligue 1 is less than reliable but I hope I make a strong enough case for a home banker.

17:30 UK Alloa v Hearts – 1.33 away – only 3 wins all season for Alloa and only 1 defeat all season for Hearts came in their last match. This should galvanise the away team today.

Alloa have not won in 9 matches and failed to score in 6 of their last 7 matches.

Hearts are on a 4 match winning streak away and have scored in their last 16 matches. They are undefeated in 10 away matches.
