Bankers or Blowouts

I wrote an article for my eletter on this subject, focussing on Banker Bets and showing you how we can profit from them.

I’ll list some apparent “bankers” in this post, and time permitting, will try to do this daily. I try to look for 1.1 odds or higher. The goal is to win back your initial stake and bank that immediately, then play on, banking profits every £10 or so.

This is not a strategy where I’m trying to create the biggest odds returns. I want a “banker”, a bet which is obvious.

Bankers and Blowouts – the mini-DRT angle.

www.drt.club is my trading service where I do all of my football research. I have noticed that these bankers, whilst sometimes frustrating us with score draws and throwing away 2-0 leads, rarely lose matches. How can you profit? Well are you familiar with football trading? That is, reacting to how a match unfolds in-play? If you are then you would have taken on faith the fact that these bankers rarely lose, and layed Dundee in play , when they were 1-3 up to bankers Aberdeen. Final score ( as you see below), 3-3. How about more frustrating bar stewards like Club Brugge the other day against Mechelen.

Staying with our premis that Bankers rarely lose, what could you have done if Mechelen ( as they did) take the lead? Lay Mechelen! Better yet, what if the match was still 0-1 coming to 90 minutes? Lay Mechelen at lower odds for potentially greater profit! You know what happened next, I am sure. Club Brugge equalised in the 90th minute.

I have already mentioned the idea of laying a team 2-0 up, to lock in profit. Consider the above elements too , in order to maximise the premis that Bankers rarely lose.

Just an added note regarding staking. If the strike rate remains as high as it is, I would recommend staying with level stakes, but re-calculating every 20 bets  which would have produced a bank of 747 pounds from an initial 100 pounds in November. Increasing the frequency to re-calculating 10% of the betting bank every 10 bets does extract a little more profit.

Plenty to ponder there. If you increase the % of bank bet, of course, then things really start getting exciting ( but ever the cautious, I’d have to warn you that it would be a big fall from grace if we hit a losing run)

At this juncture, level stakes is the only realistic staking option as some bets kick off at the same time. If you wanted other options, then select one bet at one time, as long as the next bet began after the 1st bet ended. This way you could employ “reactive” staking.

By selecting one bet for a specific time, the number of bets reduces from 225 to 137. Is there any advantage in reactive staking? Let’s take a look.

http://www.thestakingmachine.com/pro.php is the staking plan of interest, betting 20% of the bank ( as the assumed strike rate will continue to be high), turned 100 pounds on 22 November 2014 into 1356.48 as of today. ( as you can tell I don’t have apound sign on my keyboard lol).

We can employ a higher risk staking I think with assumed higher strike rate strategies. If doing , I would strongly urge you to withdraw initial seed money once the bank has doubled to allow you tdivisioo employ these higher risk strategies using OPM  – other people’s money.

Yesterday

Tennis bankers?

1130am – Marin CilicvHiroki Moriya – 1.04. – expect 3-0

1130am – Karolina Pliskova v Irina Falconi – 1.18 Pliskova.

145pm – Carla Suárez Navarro v Jelena Ostapenko – 1.18 Navarro.

145pm – Yi-Fan Xu v Ana Ivanovic – 1.08 Ana  2-0 Ana set betting

230pm – Simone Bolelli v Kei Nishikori – 1.26 Kei. – bolelli keeps stumbling v top 10. Kei did retire last match. Injury worry? If fully fit, he will win.

315pm – Maria Sharapova v Johanna Konta – 1.14 Maria.

All winners apart from a no show from Navarro. I really don’t know what happened with her. She has had a magnificent season.

Today

Ready preference is for trading rather than betting at Wimbledon so join me @whatreallywins today -I did ok last night. I layed 1.01 Anderson and that drifted to 1.1 but I did not trade out ( greedy fecker). I should have done.

No football at all. What a dire coupon today.

Wimbledon

I will try and research as many matches as I can. I am behind schedule thanks to www.racingpost.com membership not working today meaning I have to wait til the betting forecasts become available to the public. Normally I can do this work the night before! So way behind.

11:30am – Ruben Bemelmans v Roberto Bautista Agut – 1.2 Agut

11:30am – Misaki Doi v Elina Svitolina – 1.56 Elina

11:30am – Alexandr Dolgopolov v Kyle Edmund – 1.14 Dolgo

11:30am – Dustin Brown v Yen-Hsun Lu – 1.7 Lu

102nd v 61st in the rankings. Dustin Brown had to go through qualifying to get to this first round.  Recent loss for Brown v Kei Nishikori in Germany not unexpected.  Beat 54th ranked player in Germany.

A couple of english grass tournaments for Lu and reasonable form. Beat Lopez, lost to Dolgo in Nottingham.

I would lay Dustin BRown if he wins first set or goes 2-0 up. I cannot see a 3-0 set win in this match. Lu favoured today.

11:30am – Garbiñe Muguruza v Varvara Lepchenko – 1.29 Garb

11:30am – Benoit Paire v Mikhail Youzhny – 1.56 Mik

11:30am – Tamira Paszek v Casey Dellacqua – 1.63 Casey

11:30am – Anastasia Pavlyuchenkov v Mona Barthel – 1.5 Ana

11:30am – Jo-Wilfried Tsonga v Gilles Muller – 1.46 Jo

12th v 44th in the rankings. 1-0 to Jo in head to heads.

Tsonga has met high ranked players in recent tournaments which have stopped him. 19th, 10th, 60th, 7th, 20th, and at Roland Garros he reached the semi final and lost to 9th placed Stan Wawrinka.

At Aegon, Muller beat Dimitrov but lost to Murray. He was stopped by Novak in Paris . Unlucky to meet World top 3 players in recent tournaments.

Tsonga will definitely win a set. If Muller leads, I will have to lay him. Tsonga has not been ultra consistent and could drop a set but if he is in his Paris form (different surface and was at home), he will be tough to beat today. I am with Tsonga all day today and hope Muller lands an early blow.

11:30am – Carina Witthoeft v Angelique Kerber – 1.07 Angel

11:30am – Elias Ymer v Ivo Karlovic – 1.2 ivo

Big servers like grass? Isner through yesterday with ease. Milos through yesterday albeit dropping a set.

25th v 133rd in the rankings , Ivo should simply have too much for Ymer today. 3-0 is up for grabs if that serve clicks. Karlo has even beaten the likes of Djokovic recently when his serve clicked.

Ivo beat Berdych in Halle in a tournament which saw 5 7-6 sets for Ivo. Roger Fed only beat Ivo 7-6, 7-6 in Halle.

With Ivo, there is always the chance of a tie breaker and therefore dropping a set. The rankings suggest a 3-0. The recent form suggests it takes a solid player to beat Ivo. Highest ranked recent opponent for Ymer was 43. He is not playing top 25 players regularly and is likely to struggle.

1pm – Nikoloz Basilashvili v Facundo Bagnis – 1.15 Nik

1pm – Thomaz Bellucci v Rafael Nadal – 1.07 Rafa

1pm – Kiki Bertens v Petra Kvitova – 1.1 Petra

1pm – Denis Istomin v Albert Ramos-Vinolas – 1.12 Denis

62nd v 65th in the rankings and the market has really gone for Denis here. Must be a reason behind this?

No head to heads.

Istomin is a serial 1st and 2nd round exiter. But suddenly in Nottingham, he came alive, beating a string of decent players, 5 of which were lower ranked , and winning the tournament 7-6, 7-6 v Sam Querrey.

No real solid form for Ramos.

The odds seem to be short because of Istomin’s lightning performance in Nottingham (got to the Final v retirement).  I would speculatively lay Denis Istomin at 1.12 odds. Liability low. Rankings similar. On recent form, Istomin has the match.

1pm – Sam Querrey v Igor Sijsling – 1.25 Sam

1pm – Andreas Seppi v Brydan Klein – 1.13 Andreas

1pm – Tim Smyczek v Fabio Fognini – 1.56 Fabio

Fabio= dodgepot. This is a man with permanent PMS.  Totally unpredictable. When his mind is calm he is class. When not, he throws the toys out of the pram. He is never backable at 1.56 odds because we are likely to see volatility in his matches.

77th v 28th in the rankings. No head to heads.

underwhelming form for Tim recently.Struggled in Nottingham in 3 sets to 110th ranked James Ward.

Foggy beat Rafa in Barcelona, and v Dimitrov recently lost 2 and won 1 in Rome. Inconsistent. He took a set off Berdych in Rome.

Out in the 2nd round at Roland Garros.

I would layFabio 3-0 if he wins the first set.

1pm – Jack Sock v Sam Groth – 1.54 Sock

1pm – Sergiy Stakhovsky v Borna Coric  – 1.27 Sergiy

1:45pm – Nicolas Almagro v Gilles Simon – 1.25 Simon

145th v 13th in the rankings. 2-2 in head to heads but I cannot access them to check relevance.

Almagro lost to Rafa in Paris. Lowest ranked win came v Tommy Robredo (18th ranked) and Tommy went out 3-0 yesterday so has not franked the form. I feel Almagro will stutter v top 15 players.

In London, Simon beat Goffin and Raonic. Good form. But at Nottingham he lost to 45th ranked.

I cannot see Almagro winning today. He struggled v higher ranked players. Simon, on form, will win. 3 7-6 sets and a 7-5 in Nottingham suggests we might see a tie breaker today .

1:45pm – Vasek Pospisil v Vincent Millot – 1.33 Vasek

1:45pm – Evgeniya Rodina v Laura Robson – 1.52 Ev

1:45pm – Viktor Troicki v Aleksandr Nedovyesov – 1.12 Vik

24th v 123rd in the rankings.  No head to heads. good recent grass form for Viktor, beating 9th ranked Cilic and losing to Rafa in the final in Stuttgart. In London Aegon, he beat Cilic again and Isner and lost 3-6 6-7 to Murray . At Nottingham a poor display. No motivation?

Nedov is mostly playing 3 figure ranked players and should be blown away by an in-form-on-grass Troicki.

2pm – Agnieszka Radwanska v Lucie Hradecka – 1.15 Agn

3-0 to Lucie in head to heads, albeit from 2005/2006 so irrelevant now. 13th v 52nd in the rankings.  Aggy went out 1st round in Paris. Semis in Nottingham but the highest ranked player she met was 61st. Final in eastbourne, beating 11th ranked Pliskova and losing to Bencic in the Final. Bencic won yesterday.

Poor recent form from Lucie.

Aggy can tend to mess up her matches. On recent form, she should win today, although as you see by the rankings, Nottingham and Eastbourne were not strong tournaments. The player who beat her in the final at Eastbourne won yesterday coming from behind.

2:30pm – Damir Dzumhur v Roger Federer – 1.01 fed

88th v 2nd in the World.  1.21 for 3-0 Federer. He has dropped sets before in the first round. Hope so today. 1-0 head to heads Federer.

3:15pm – Pablo Andujar v Guillermo Garcia-Lopez – 1.17 Lopez

3:15pm – Jana Cepelova v Simona Halep – 1.07 Simona

106th v 3rd in the rankings. 0-1 to Simona in head to heads in 2014 .Lowest ranked recent player for Jana was 73rd. Beaten in 2 sets in recent grass tournaments 6-1, 6-4, 6-1, 6-1.v 98th and 123rd ranked.

Final, Final, Semi, Semi saw Halep in ripe old form. Recently, she has been inconsistent. 1st round Madrid, Semi Rome, 2nd round French Open, and quarters Birmingham. An over 100th ranked player really should not get a look in today. Jana shows no form that tells me she will land a blow. 2-0 Halep expected.

3:15pm – Ying-Ying Duan v Eugenie Bouchard – 1.31 Bouchard

3:15pm – Feliciano Lopez v Steve Darcis – 1.15 Fel

16th v 80th in the rankings and 1-1 in head to heads. NO way for me to view these head to heads. Betfair Head to Head is not working for Wimbledon.

One thing I notice with Lopez is a preponderence towards tie breakers. These are luck of the draw and if Lopez continues in this line, then Darcis could win a key point and nick a set. I would lay Lopez 3-0 if he wins the first set. He has had 6 7-6 sets in his last 9 sets played.

Darcis had a great Miami , stopped by Novak. 4 consecutive 1st round exits though for Darcis suggests he should not land a blow today. As I say, with lopez’s 7-6 habit, there is a chance Darcis might nick a set but not win.

3:15pm – Jelena Jankovic v Elena Vesnina – 1.39 Jel

3:15pm – Filip Krajinovic v Nicolas Mahut – 1.14 Mahut

3:15pm – Jiri Vesely v Paolo Lorenzi – 1.1 Jiri

3:30pm – Luca Vanni v James Ward – 1.6 Ward

4pm – Ekaterina Makarova v Sachia Vickery – 1.23 Ek

8th v 112th in the rankings.

No head to heads.

Not the form recently which makes me want to back Ekaterina at 1.23. But then her opponent must be 112th for a reason!

Quarter finals for Vickery in Nottingham but the lowest ranked player was 32nd.Just lost 6-0, 6-2 to 241st ranked!

Makarova is vulnerable and I don’t expect her to go deep. I want to lay her 2-0 set betting if she wins the first set, but Vickery looks so poor she should not land a blow.

4pm – Andreea Mitu v Olga Govortsova – 1.38 Olga

4:45pm – Adrian Mannarino v Michael Berrer – 1.43 Adrian

4:45pm – Tomas Berdych v Jeremy Chardy – 1.14 Tomas

6th v 38th in the rankings. 3-0 to Tomas in head to heads.

Ultra consistent Berdych. Semis in Australia, Finals in Rotterdam, semis in Dubai, quarters in Indian Wells, semis in Miami, final in Monte Carlo, semis in Madrid, quarters in Rome, and round of 16 in Paris v Tsonga.Quarters in Halle. Bar the loss to Karlovic latest, it takes a top 4 player to stop Tomas.

Chardy lost 76-6-4 to Berdych in Dubai. Tight match. Took a set off 6th ranked Raonic in Miami, straight set loss to Federer, and beaten twice by Murray recently.

I think we might see a tiebreaker or 2 today and likely 6-4 sets if Berdych does break. This makes 1.14 a tad short for a 3 setter . I would lay Berdych if he wins the first set, ideally in the 3-0 set betting market.

4:45pm – Mikhail Kukushkin v Andy Murray – 1.01 Murray

1.24 for 3-0 Murray today.. 59th v 3rd in the world and 2-0 head to heads for Andy. We expect 3-0 but did note yesterday other top 10 players Raonic and Nishikori dropping a set. But there is an argument top 3 is a step above 4th-10th. Expect 3-0.

4:45pm – Gael Monfils v Pablo Carreno Busta – 1.09 Gael

18th v 67th in the rankings. 0-1 to Busta in head to heads.

Finals in Marseille, lost to Kohlschreiber in Germany, lost to Berdych in Miami, (retired), beat Federer, Dimitrov, and lost to Berdych in Monaco, semis in Bucharest, 2nd round 3 tie breakers loss in Madrid, lost to Federer in Paris.Semis in Stuttgart lost to Nadal.Retired in quarters in Halle.

Busta is not meeting top quality players often enough to be considered a threat to Monfils. I would lay Monfils at 1.1 from a speculative perspective because of his retirement in Nottingham. 2 recent Monfils retirements suggests he plays with a niggle. Highly speculative mind you as Busta has no strong form. A hope for Monfils struggles.

4:45pm – Teliana Pereira v Camila Giorgi – 1.17 Camila

5:30pm – Madison Keys v Stefanie Voegele – 1.12 Keys

0-1 to Voegele in head to heads in 2014 on hard. . 21st v 104th in the rankings.

Keys has poor recent form. But she is playing top 40 players consistently.

5 first round exits and 2 2nd round exits for Voegele suggests it’ll be either today or tomorrow for Voegele.

Keys recently cocked it up at shorter odds v Lucic-Baroni and I profited well. She came back from 5-0 down 2nd set when a set down and won the 2nd set 7-6! So, she is vulnerable and I would never be a backer of Keys at 1.12 odds. YEt again, the problem is Voegele ain’t all that! She did win in 2014 so that adds to my want to lay Keys , hopefully, sub 1.1

5:30pm – Ana Konjuh v AlizÉ Cornet – 1.53 Ana

5:30pm – Svetlana Kuznetsova v Laura Siegemund – 1.28 Svet

5:30pm – Caroline Wozniacki v Saisai Zheng – 1.08 Caroline

No head to heads. 5th v 66th in the rankings.

A finalist in Stuttgart, quarters in Madrid, out in the 2nd round in Rome, 2nd round only in Paris, and retired in the semi finals in Eastbourne. Beat some tough players there in Kutznetsova and Petkovic.

Zheng tend to play 3 figure ranked players. Highest ranked opponent recently was 48th. This should be a step too far for Zheng. The only vulnerability for Woz is a question mark re her retirement in Eastbourne. Expect 2-0 Woz.

5:45pm – Jarmila Gajdosova v Sabine Lisicki – 1.27 Sabine

BANKERS -I won’t put a time up as these are only guides above.

3-0 Murray and 3-0 Federer springs to mind. Andy has tended to drop first sets then motor on but looks in superb form currently.

I expect tomas Berdych to win. He has tended only to get stopped by top 5 players lately.

Cepelova shows no form which would suggest she can stop Simona Halep winning 2-0

I also expect Victor Troicki and Gilles Simon to win their matches , on form. You can get an idea of the times above. Simply Ctrl F then search for “Simon” etc and it will bring up the match.

More research I hope to follow although it is 10am now and I am running out of time for the 1130am matches.

As I said earlier @whatreallywins for trading of the above matches.
