Selections for Friday 27th March 2015

I wrote an article for my eletter on this subject, focussing on Banker Bets and showing you how we can profit from them.

I’ll list some apparent “bankers” in this post, and time permitting, will try to do this daily. I try to look for 1.1 odds or higher. The goal is to win back your initial stake and bank that immediately, then play on, banking profits every £10 or so.

This is not a strategy where I’m trying to create the biggest odds returns. I want a “banker”, a bet which is obvious.

Bankers and Blowouts – the mini-DRT angle.

www.drt.club is my trading service where I do all of my football research. I have noticed that these bankers, whilst sometimes frustrating us with score draws and throwing away 2-0 leads, rarely lose matches. How can you profit? Well are you familiar with football trading? That is, reacting to how a match unfolds in-play? If you are then you would have taken on faith the fact that these bankers rarely lose, and layed Dundee in play , when they were 1-3 up to bankers Aberdeen. Final score ( as you see below), 3-3. How about more frustrating bar stewards like Club Brugge the other day against Mechelen.

Staying with our premis that Bankers rarely lose, what could you have done if Mechelen ( as they did) take the lead? Lay Mechelen! Better yet, what if the match was still 0-1 coming to 90 minutes? Lay Mechelen at lower odds for potentially greater profit! You know what happened next, I am sure. Club Brugge equalised in the 90th minute.

I have already mentioned the idea of laying a team 2-0 up, to lock in profit. Consider the above elements too , in order to maximise the premis that Bankers rarely lose.

Yesterday

I suppose the standout yesterday was Colombia away at Bahrain. That was just a huge mismatch and apologies for not updating the blog.

Today

We have some competitive matches today so let’s see if anything appeals.

19:45 UK Slovenia v San Marino – 1.03 home – the assumption is that we will see Slovenia score before halftime here . Over 2.5 goals is at 1.12 . Slovenia win to nil is very enticing at 1.28 ( these odds are with the Betfair Sportsbook by the way).

Halftime Slovenia is hovering around the 1.12/1.13 marker in illiquid Betfair exchange markets as I write.

19:45 UK Spain v Ukraine – 1.25 home – Spain have been purring in Euro qualifiers. 15 wins in their last 16.14 consecutive home wins. Ukraine won their last 3 qualifiers, albeit v Belarus, Macedonia and Luxembourg.

19:45 UK Slovakia v Luxembourg – 1.1 home – Slovakia top Group C, leaving the likes of Spain in their wake.

4 consecutive wins plays a Lux side conceding 1-3-4-3.

Enhance the odds with a halftime bet on Slovakia. That will boost the odds to 1.44 but of course increase the risk. It is my belief that these teams are only concerned with the 90 minute result and not necessarily with having to lead at halftime.

19:45 UK England v Lithuania – 1.12 home – this is not a must win, as Eng-er-land have a 6 point lead a-top Group E. 3 wins to nil and a 3-1 for Eng-er-land . Lithuania lost to Slovenia and Switzerland and beat San Marino and Estonia.

Again, these odds do suggest that Eng-er-land will score before halftime. Can you trust that though?

19:45 UK Liechtenstein v Austria – 1.18 away – Austria lead GRoup G , but a warning. Their last 2 wins were only 1-0 v Montenegro and Russia, so a real reliance on those clean sheets.

Liechtenstein drew with Montenegro and beat Moldova 0-1. They should not land a blow today. They have scored only 1 goal in 4 qualifiers so a hope Austria chip in with their usual goal at least to simply outscore Liech.

19:45 UK Switzerland v Estonia – 1.17 home – Estonia go down fighting. 1-0 losses to Lithuania and England suggest that the Swiss will not be entering my final Bankers selections today. It’s just too tight. Can you name the Swiss forward line? Thought not. The Swiss , though, did win 4-0 twice against the other minnows in Group E so they have a precedent here

TODAY’S BANKERS

19:45 UK Slovenia v San Marino – 1.03 home – Slovenia win to nil at 1.28 looks amazing here. ( Betfair Sportsbook but check the Exchange nearer kick-off for liquidity). San Marino have failed to score in their last 15 EC qualifiers and in their last 22 away EC qualifiers.

19:45 UK Slovakia v Luxembourg – 1.1 home ( update – 1.2 just before kick off)- a surprisingly good Slovakia should keep their impressive EC qualifier record going with a win here. I’ll personally just stick with the match odds market and home advantage.Lux conceding 3-4-3 recently augurs well.

19:45 UK England v Lithuania – 1.12 home – complacency a big concern as this is not a must win for Eng-er-land. They stay top with a loss today. They have been mighty impressive and defensively solid and should simply out-score Lithuania. Again I am playing safe with the match odds only.

19:45 UK Liechtenstein v Austria – 1.18 away ( update 1.21 just before kick off) – this could be a tight one but is simply a matter, I feel, of Austria scoring more than Liechtenstein. Remember this Austria side are top of Group G.

The riskiest bet is the Slovenia win to nil but I hope you see in the stats a good reason to enhance 1.03 odds all the way up to 1.28! Tasty! Slovenia did concede v Faroes in 2010 in a 5-1 win. That’s a stickler!
