Just a quick eletter, inbetween mince pies, to wish you a Very Merry Christmas Day . Do remember last week’s eletter if you want to find some angles for the busy Boxing Day racing. I might do a New Year’s Day stats review in time for the first day of 2019.

Before I go, I’ve been looking at all-weather racing. You horse racing fans will have noticed a marked increase in all-weather racing now. It is something I have mentioned in past eletters.

Here’s some stats for you to chew on this all-weather season.

In handicap races, in the last 10 years, backing favourites in 6 furlong handicap races at all-weather venues has turned an eye-catching 127.89 points profit to Industry SP, with a 4.65% return on investment.

If you want to focus even further, stick to Kempton, Lingfield, Southwell and Wolverhampton 6 furlong handicap races.

Let’s dig down even further.

6 runner, 9 runner, 10 runner and 11 runner races yield the biggest returns.

If past performance is replicated in the future, then our focus is on

  • 6 furlong races
  • Handicap only
  • At Kempton, Lingfield, Southwell and Wolverhampton
  • In 6 runner, and 9-11 runner races inclusive

Simples.

I’ll be looking in future eletters at Dams and sires and whether, at specialist venues like these, whether breeding can impact profit. Hint: Followers of Cape Cross progeny would have cleaned up in handicaps.

Have a great Christmas. I’m off to munch on another mince pie.
