I do love the Cheltenham Festival (March edition) as it invariably falls during my birthday week. The Queen may have two birthdays. Me? I have a birthday week.

November’s Cheltenham Festival is not to be sniffed at either.

If ever the phrase ‘horses for courses’ was apposite, it is at this venue. And with that in mind, the Racing Post has shared with us a list of course specialists.

The most recent course specialists (2016/2017) include Defi du Seuil, Wholestone, Un De Sceaux, Whisper, and Altior.

For 2017/2018, add Apple’s Shakira, Magic Dancer, Mister Whitaker, Kilbricken Storm, and North Hill Harvey.

To find out if any of these horses who love the course are running during this version of Cheltenham, go to the Racing Post website > Cards > Today > Runner’s Index. Use Ctrl F and type in this list of horses. If they run, consider following them.

And to jockeys? Davy Russell is top of the tree at course and distance (3+ miles) where he has made punters +£213. Bless the Wings in the 15:00 Cheltenham today. Percy Veer in the 15:35 Cheltenham today.

Trainers running today in terms of profitability? Fergal O’Brien runs Lovely Job 12:34 at Cheltenham today: +£46.77 for the punters following his charges to level stakes.

Watch out for Colin Tizzard who is great with returning horses after a 150+ day break. White Moon (14:25), Rockpoint (13:15) and Bally Longford (12:40) are the ones to note for a trainer with +62.08 profit with these returnees.

I have given you the runners for these hot jockeys and trainers for today. For tomorrow and Sunday use the Ctrl F and find them that way on the race cards (Racing Post > Cards > Today > Cheltenham > Show all racecards for this meeting on one page.)

I hope you have an enjoyable Cheltenham Festival (it will fill the void while the football is on an international break).
