Welcome from Manly, Australia! I am attending my sister’s wedding with the family. I have not seen any koalas or kangaroos just yet.

It is St Ledger weekend at Doncaster. With the season Aidan O’Brien is having, I feel his horses are the first stop for the shortlist.

I do tend to look to Seamie Heffernan as my first port of call on an O’Brien horse, and his Venice Beach is a current 12/1 each way.

Capri will be my other selection each way at a current 7/2 with primary jockey Ryan Moore on board.

It is (of course) a hugely competitive race. But faith in the Irish for me.

When to oppose the big elite football teams

The Premier League returns this week and I would ask you to pay attention when there is a next set of Champions League and Europa League football matches AFTER a set of domestic league matches.

Teams playing in the Champions League and Europa League generally falter, so much so, that I think there is a ready laying system specifically pre-European competition.

Man Utd drew with Stoke and Liverpool lost. Although PSG won against Metz, Metz did equalise after a PSG lead. Dortmund failed to beat ten-man Freiburg, Bayern Munich lost, Real Madrid failed to win, as did Atl Madrid.

Is this a coincidence? I tend to think not.

So do look out for the matches played domestically on the weekend before a Champions League and Europa League weekend. You might make some cash opposing the big elite teams.

I’m off now to hug a koala. G’day!
