Selections for Tuesday 31st March 2015

I wrote an article for my eletter on this subject, focussing on Banker Bets and showing you how we can profit from them.

I’ll list some apparent “bankers” in this post, and time permitting, will try to do this daily. I try to look for 1.1 odds or higher. The goal is to win back your initial stake and bank that immediately, then play on, banking profits every £10 or so.

This is not a strategy where I’m trying to create the biggest odds returns. I want a “banker”, a bet which is obvious.

Bankers and Blowouts – the mini-DRT angle.

www.drt.club is my trading service where I do all of my football research. I have noticed that these bankers, whilst sometimes frustrating us with score draws and throwing away 2-0 leads, rarely lose matches. How can you profit? Well are you familiar with football trading? That is, reacting to how a match unfolds in-play? If you are then you would have taken on faith the fact that these bankers rarely lose, and layed Dundee in play , when they were 1-3 up to bankers Aberdeen. Final score ( as you see below), 3-3. How about more frustrating bar stewards like Club Brugge the other day against Mechelen.

Staying with our premis that Bankers rarely lose, what could you have done if Mechelen ( as they did) take the lead? Lay Mechelen! Better yet, what if the match was still 0-1 coming to 90 minutes? Lay Mechelen at lower odds for potentially greater profit! You know what happened next, I am sure. Club Brugge equalised in the 90th minute.

I have already mentioned the idea of laying a team 2-0 up, to lock in profit. Consider the above elements too , in order to maximise the premis that Bankers rarely lose.

Yesterday

7pm – Belgium U21 v Moldova U21 – 1.17 home – 2-1. A bit too tight for me but Belgium u21 were 2-0 up and limped over the line.

Today

A day of predominantly friendlies, under 19 matches and the like making for a very unappetising coupon.

11:00 UK South Korea v New Zealand – 1.4 home – NZ renowned for a defensive set up but the “three lungs” South Korean headless chickens should run them into the ground – friendly though.

11:00 UK Czech Rep U19 v Germany U19 – 1.36 away – are the nippers really banker material? The under 21’s were terrible in victory yesterday.

11:00 UK Lithuania U19 v Belgium U19 – 1.17 away – after what their elders did yesterday, I may avoid.

15:00 UK Argentina v Ecuador – 1.44 home – if at home, and if the big boys are playing , Gonzo, Messi ( clubs may have a word or 2 to say about team selection), Argentina look good.

15:00 UK Portugal v Cape Verde – 1.1 home – I was amused reading a thread on this fixture on the Betfair Forum the last time these 2 met. 0-0 it ended and there was a lot of crying on the forum!

16:00 UK Russia v Kazakhstan – 1.12 home – The Ruskies tend to barely do enough , more so in friendlies, but Borat’s boys should offer little resistance. Yek Shamesh. I like. Sexy Time.

19:15 UK Luxembourg v Turkey – 1.2 away – Luxembourg were spanked by Austria latest. I need to research to see if this is a friendly or not.

19:45 UK Falkirk v Cowdenbeath – 1.33 home – Cowdenbeath – the perennial team that gets bulldozered in the Scottish Championship?

Please allow me to do research on these for members of www.drt.club. Hopefully something will emerge as far as a strong stats based banker is concerned. I will update later on.

 TODAY’S BANKERS

I would shortlist South Korea today, at midday, www.willhill.com wrong time, Portugal ( surely lightning cannot strike twice as regards a 0-0), Russia and Turkey. I will not be putting up a banker today. I said in DRT I expect these teams NOT to lose , rather than to win 100%.  Of these, I suppose Turkey and Russia stand out for me.

Russia luckily seem to take friendlies seriously, that or they have played some poor sides lately. A bit of both I think. A near full strength Russia should not lose today against a side whose recent highlight was a win v the “Stans”. Let’s hope Borat’s boys strike first or at least keep Russia to a 0-0 for a while to enable us to engineer a trade.

A feeling here too that the Turks deserve their short odds. Not bad friendly form.
Can we lay the late draw? they tend to avoid it in recent away friendlies.
Luxembourg’s recent 1-1 with Italy in a friendly reminds us of the fragility of relying on these matches. But a run of 12 without a win in recent form suggests Luxembourg will not be winning today if Turkey play anything like their first team today. Turkey have only lost to USA and Brazil in friendlies, and they are good yard sticks.

NO official bet today.
