Racing Testing Lab

Selections for Tuesday 22nd July 2014

Background

I have been noting these horses for some time, and a lot tend to lose, and at short prices.

What is a price-gapper?

Take a look at www.racingpost.com, Cards, Today’s Cards and at a meeting select  ” show all race cards for this meeting on one page”

Focus on handicap races only ( these are easy to see, as the race will have the word ” handicap” in the title.

Look at the Betting forecast. Look for a price gapper. Here’s an example from yesterday

435 brighton Betting forecast: 13/8 Picks Pinta, 9/2 Welsh Inlet,

Can you see that Picks Pinta’s closest rival has a gap in the odds?

Here are selections from 17th July as an example

855 epsom Betting forecast: 5/6 Comanchero, 6/1 Capmonde    -note how big this gap is between the betting forecast favourite and the 2nd favourite. By the way, the result for the price gapper Comanchero is below.
4th 1.55
315 hamilton Betting forecast: 6/4 Almerzem, 9/2 Hard Core Debt,  – we have another big price gapper in another handicap. Note the result.
8th 5.5
515 hamilton Betting forecast: 9/4 Dark Crystal, 4/1 Archie´s Advice,  – and another – not much of a price gap but still the horse under performed
6th 3.6
440 killarney Betting forecast: 5/2 Sizing Italy, 11/2 Orgilgo Bay  – Sizing Italy was the last selection
7th 1.96

Oh, and the Brighton race saw Picks Pinta finish 2nd

I am going to post these selections daily and we can see if these short priced betting forecast price-gappers are as vulnerable as they appear to be.

We might have a good laying system here, or even an each-way strategy . If we assume the favourite won’t win, this opens it up to the rest of the field!

I am just monitoring at the moment. As you know with any strategy we need a good backbone of results. We don’t have them here , only a week or so.
