Selections for Saturday 21st March 2015

I wrote an article for my eletter on this subject, focussing on Banker Bets and showing you how we can profit from them.

I’ll list some apparent “bankers” in this post, and time permitting, will try to do this daily. I try to look for 1.1 odds or higher. The goal is to win back your initial stake and bank that immediately, then play on, banking profits every £10 or so.

This is not a strategy where I’m trying to create the biggest odds returns. I want a “banker”, a bet which is obvious.

Bankers and Blowouts – the mini-DRT angle.

www.drt.club is my trading service where I do all of my football research. I have noticed that these bankers, whilst sometimes frustrating us with score draws and throwing away 2-0 leads, rarely lose matches. How can you profit? Well are you familiar with football trading? That is, reacting to how a match unfolds in-play? If you are then you would have taken on faith the fact that these bankers rarely lose, and layed Dundee in play , when they were 1-3 up to bankers Aberdeen. Final score ( as you see below), 3-3. How about more frustrating bar stewards like Club Brugge the other day against Mechelen.

Staying with our premis that Bankers rarely lose, what could you have done if Mechelen ( as they did) take the lead? Lay Mechelen! Better yet, what if the match was still 0-1 coming to 90 minutes? Lay Mechelen at lower odds for potentially greater profit! You know what happened next, I am sure. Club Brugge equalised in the 90th minute.

I have already mentioned the idea of laying a team 2-0 up, to lock in profit. Consider the above elements too , in order to maximise the premis that Bankers rarely lose.

Yesterday

7pm – MVV Maastricht v NEC Nijmegen – 1.48 away – 1-4.I love a bit of NEC on a Friday, more so when MVV Maastricht scored first! I must admit it was too good to pass up.

19:30 UK Paris Saint-Germain v Lorient – 1.28 home – 3-1 to PSG and we were a tad lucky today with 2 Ibra penalties either side of a 1-1. The 3-1 sounds more impressive than it was but I’ll take the win.

BANKERS

Please allow me to research a few more games for my www.drt.club members before deciding if there are any bankers. It is a tricky part of the season now ( remember Burnley v Man City?) as struggling teams are absolutely desparate for points. Still, I will stick with my clean sheet/scoring favs v fail to score underdogs formula ( more on that in March’s newsletter) as it does ensure a team like Lorient are not a threat despite PSG being under par.

Today

Missed CSKA Moscow – I thought it kicked off at 130pm. It is on as I write.

14:00 UK Dinamo Zagreb v Istra – 1.14 home – unbeaten at home in the league since August 2010. Nuff said! AS ever with 1.14 odds, it is up to you whether you want to back Dinamo Zagreb in the halftime market to enhance odds. They have been hit and miss in this regard. I remember one recently where they were the same odds and scored 42nd minute. A bit too close to call. But expectation really is for halftime goals.

Premiership matches are a bit hit and miss. Arsenal should beat Newcastle at home but head to heads have been very tight indeed and Newcastle have a touch of bad luck at home .89th minute Man Utd winner and 90th minute Stoke equaliser suggests competitiveness. If the Arsenal who were motivated to the 0-2 away at Monaco turn up, this will be theirs to win. 1.55 odds.

The wheels have fallen off for Southampton of late. Only 1 win in 5 matches and play a Burnley side who beat Man City 0-1 and, guess what, beat Saints 1-0 earlier in the season.

Saints have beaten 17th, 19th and 20th at home this season and play 18th today so there is our potential angle in. 0-0-0-1 scored by Saints lately. Where’s Matt Le Tiss when you need him? An extra large shirt required for his comeback. Only 1 win away for Burnley but we saw what needing points does for you v City.

15:00 UK Tottenham v Leicester – 1.6 home – the odds are a tad offputting.  as I would have expected this current Harry Kane led Spurs to have been a lot shorter against Leicester who have only 2 0-1 wins away.

Spurs are scoring and conceding too often for my liking and this requires naturally 2 goals scored at least for them to have a chance of winning.  Spurs have been scoring 2-5 goals regularly at home of late.

Spurs have beaten all of the bottom 4 at home and are undefeated at home ( that does not discount the draw – glass half empty!)

Leicester wins have recently been 1-0 and I doubt they can keep Kane and co at bay. A possible biggish odds banker this one.

15:00 UK Celtic v Dundee Utd – 1.22 home – it’s deja vu all over again. 1-1, 0-2 Celtic, 4-0 Celtic and almost as many red cards as goals in those 3 games. Celtic have asserted the last 2 games. My theory that Dundee United would improve with each consecutive match, learning better how to overcome Celtic has not come to fruition. Another Bhoys win is likely. BUT we have the spectre of red cards in these matches. A red card for Dundee would be welcome for Celtic backers but a Celtic red card could spell trouble for a banker bet

15:00 UK Atletico Madrid v Getafe – 1.3 home – 8 consecutive clean sheets in head to heads for Atl Madrid suggests they merely score to win. 0-0 and 1-0 most recently.

Atl Madrid have only lost 1 at home and scored in their last 6 home matches.

They have 3 clean sheets in their last 4 matches. I bet Getafe wish they could have the day off.

Atl Madrid have scored 2+ goals in all home matches v 7th and lower.

Getafe have had no draw in 11 matches, ergo home win or away win?

They have failed to score v top 4 sides home or away. Opponents have scored first in 11 of their 13 aways. This looks another likely banker.

6pm – Rio Ave v Benfica – 1.38 away – Rio have failed to score in the last 6 head to heads but only a 1-0 Benfica win last time out.

All Rio home wins v 12th and lower.0-0-0-2-1-1 scored in recent matches.

Benfica have won all matches home and away v 7th and lower and failed to score in only 1 match all season.

Benfica are on a 5 match winning streak

They have been conceding away though and got caught out twice with a 1-0 loss and a 1-1 draw.

BANKERS

15:00 UK Atletico Madrid v Getafe – 1.3 home

15:00 UK Celtic v Dundee Utd – 1.22 home – over familiarity and red cards could scupper this but Celtic were so emphatic recently with the 4-0 home win.

15:00 UK Tottenham v Leicester – 1.6 home – – my riskier banker. If Spurs score 2 they should have this. Leicester wins tend to be 1-0

14:00 UK Dinamo Zagreb v Istra – 1.14 home –
