Selections for Sunday 21st December 2014

I wrote an article for my eletter on this subject, focussing on Banker Bets and showing you how we can profit from them.

I’ll list some apparent “bankers” in this post, and time permitting, will try to do this daily. I try to look for 1.1 odds or higher. The goal is to win back your initial stake and bank that immediately, then play on, banking profits every £10 or so.

This is not a strategy where I’m trying to create the biggest odds returns. I want a “banker”, a bet which is obvious.

Yesterday

12:45 UK Man City v Crystal Palace – 1.28 home – 3-0

15:00 UK Aberdeen v Kilmarnock – 1.44 home – 1-0

15:00 UK – Hearts v Alloa – 1.19 home – 2-0

Happy to get Aberdeen in. Wolfsburg won yesterday too , as did Rangers. Glad I left PSG alone. Dodgepots drew 0-0. They have failed to score in 2 matches now.

Today

21 Dec 16:00 UK Benfica v Gil Vicente – 1.12 home – on a high after beating Porto on their patch last weekend, and that is rare in head to heads. Benfica play a team with no win in 13 matches, and a team failing to score in their last 3 away matches. Indeed they have failed to score in 4 of their last 6 matches. Benfica are on a 5 match winning streak, 4 at home and have scored in their last 13 matches.

Villareal would be of interest at 11am but I have not researched it yet. I will try and do so.

Celtic are away to Dundee United who are unbeaten in 6 home matches. Dundee United have scored first in 7 of 8 home matches. Not a banker for Celtic this one.

St Etienne are 1.5 at home to Evian and have been solid at home. No defeat in 9 matches. 5 consecutive clean sheets, and scored in their last 4 home matches. Tend to have 1-0 scorelines v 15th and lower at home, and playing 16th today. I am afraid that a 1-0 is not a scoreline I’d associate with bankers ( Aberdeen notwithstanding)> This is a bad habit from St Etienne and they will face a 1-1 at some stage.
