Selections for Sunday 1st February 2015

I wrote an article for my eletter on this subject, focussing on Banker Bets and showing you how we can profit from them.

I’ll list some apparent “bankers” in this post, and time permitting, will try to do this daily. I try to look for 1.1 odds or higher. The goal is to win back your initial stake and bank that immediately, then play on, banking profits every £10 or so.

This is not a strategy where I’m trying to create the biggest odds returns. I want a “banker”, a bet which is obvious.

Bankers and Blowouts – the mini-DRT angle.

www.drt.club is my trading service where I do all of my football research. I have noticed that these bankers, whilst sometimes frustrating us with score draws and throwing away 2-0 leads, rarely lose matches. How can you profit? Well are you familiar with football trading? That is, reacting to how a match unfolds in-play? If you are then you would have taken on faith the fact that these bankers rarely lose, and layed Dundee in play , when they were 1-3 up to bankers Aberdeen. Final score ( as you see below), 3-3. How about more frustrating bar stewards like Club Brugge the other day against Mechelen.

Staying with our premis that Bankers rarely lose, what could you have done if Mechelen ( as they did) take the lead? Lay Mechelen! Better yet, what if the match was still 0-1 coming to 90 minutes? Lay Mechelen at lower odds for potentially greater profit! You know what happened next, I am sure. Club Brugge equalised in the 90th minute.

I have already mentioned the idea of laying a team 2-0 up, to lock in profit. Consider the above elements too , in order to maximise the premis that Bankers rarely lose.

Yesterday

15:00 UK Man Utd v Leicester – 1.33 home – 3-1

15:00 UK Hibernian v Raith Rovers – 1.4 home – 1-1 The equaliser came in the 91st minute and I was screaming at you to trade out!!! But alas you may not have heard me! 1-0 is such a worrisome scoreline!

 15:00 UK Real Madrid v Real Sociedad – 1.2 home – 4-1

15:30 UK Marseille v Evian – 1.36 home – 1-0 – as above a rather worrisome scoreline but Marseille survived.

17:30 UK Alloa v Hearts – 1.33 away – 1-4

The right choices yesterday and with a trader’s hat on, a full house. That is, of course, with the value of hindsight!

Today

13:30 UK Arsenal v Aston Villa – 1.25 home – I said in research at www.drt.club that this is Arsenal’s to lose.  Arsenal tend to win head to heads.

Arsenal are on a 4 match  home winning streak. They have scored in their last 10 home matches. Arsenal tend to score 2/3 goals against 10th and lower at home

Aston Villa have failed to score in their last 5 matches so you’d hope that if Arsenal keep up their scoring record, they should record the win ( think Marseille reasoning yesterday .)

130pm sees the first Old Firm derby for a long while. Rangers are comparatively struggling in the Championship, where they should be dominating but are not. Celtic sit atop the SPL as is their wont. Celtic do tempt me at 1.33 odds today but Old Firm matches could produce anything. Logic suggests Celtic have the better current set of players playing consistently at a higher level than Rangers.

20:00 UK Barcelona v Villarreal – 1.25 home – Villareal are on a 10 match unbeaten run but it is rather significant that all defeats this season have come against top 5 sides. Barca are on a 4 match winning streak at home, have won 7 of the last 8 head to heads, and have won all bar 1 at home.

Although Villareal are in excellent form, we have to take top 5 form in isolation and that is what I am banking on today.

There are other shorties which I have yet to research, such as Feyenoord, Panathanaikos, NEC, and if I get time I will research them.

I have just researched Panathanaikos and I think I would have to include them. I think you’ll find the stats interesting.

1pm – Panathinaikos v Platanias – 1.25 home – a 7 match home winning streak for Pana, keeping 5 consecutive home clean sheets. They have won all bar 1 match at home, and kept clean sheets in 5 of their last 6 matches.

Platanias are on a 5 match away losing streak, and have not won away in 7 matches. They have lost all matches home and away v top 6 sides. A slight fly in the ointment? Platanias only lost 1-0 away to 2nd and 4th so could keep this tight.

As per Marseille, and Arsenal, if Panathanaikos score, then we hope their defence has been as adept as it has in previous matches.

130pm – NEC Nijmegen v Helmond Sport – 1.25 home – another I have just researched and NEC look to have a great chance here, already winning 1-4 this season against Helmond. A 10 match home winning streak for NEC, they do tend to concede but win.Helmond have failed to score in their last 3 away matches so a hope really that they falter infront of goal. At their best, NEC have 3+ goals in them today and a hope they outscore Helmond sport.
