You’ll see a number of betting strategies there, all of which have been tested and proven to be profitable over time.
In this eletter I thought I would update you on performance and introduce you to some of my own betting strategies. I include them in my personal betting portfolio, which is the ideal way to make a profit long-term.
Some strategies may under-perform; others may sky-rocket. They should balance each other out at year-end and leave the bank balance in a healthy position.
Here are the strategies…
Bankers and Blowouts
Here I focus on apparent good things in the football: strong bets we call ‘banker bets’. These bets should win and, with their accompanying staking plan, turn a profit season end.
Last season, this strategy turned £100 into £727.
This season, we are running at a current 0.52 points loss. As you will see when operating a betting portfolio, this is what I would call an ‘acceptable loss’.
3-5-8 System
Last year, this system turned £100 into £677, just looking to win a simple £2 target profit per race. Increase your target, increase your profit!
This year, we are only two months in and the 3-5-8 System has make £70 clear profit, again with simple £2 target profit per race. If you were to up your target profit to a tenner, then this would be a clear £350 profit for the year. This 3-5-8 System is high-risk. I like to include at least one high-risk strategy in my betting portfolio. How about you?
Two-Horse Race Placers
This strategy has profited in 2013, 2014, 2015 and… 2016?
Perhaps: a 1.7 point loss for 2016 holds no fear for me. When we have an archive of results, we can see patterns form. For instance, in 2014, the Two-Horse Race Placers was still making a loss on 16 April. A 31 point profit for the year resulted though.
Handicap Price Gappers
This is a simple lay strategy. There can be several selections and an admittedly rollercoaster ride. This strategy made a 54 point profit in 2015.
In 2016, it is making a current 10 points profit.
Lay the Big Fave
There are usually one or two selections a day with this simplest of strategies. Find the horse. Lay the horse. So far in 2016, this strategy has made a 5.3 point profit.
Maidens and Claimers
This is a very discerning lay strategy. We lay horses in certain matches at odds of 1.5 or lower. There have been only nine selections in 2016, and six of those horses have won their race. Yet we are still showing a profit! Remember, as layers we want horses to lose, not win!!

The Testing Lab
Along with my trusted sidekick Beaker from the Muppets, the Testing Lab is an area where I try out new betting strategies to see if they work. If they work, then WRWM members will be alerted immediately. I would highly recommend that you create your own Testing Lab.
How? Ask questions. For instance, if you are looking to lay a horse (profit from a horse losing), what characteristics would you like to see in that horse, or the horse’s race?
Here are some ideas:
- A big field. More horses to beat!
- A competitive field. How about handicap races?
- Poor ground. Focus on heavy ground only.
- Favourites in chase races. Big obstacles to overcome.
You get the idea.
I have a number of systems and strategies on the boil as I write. Some are showing real profit potential and I am very excited about them. Others are yet to show they can deliver me and my readers a sustainable long-term profit.

Include a mixture of backing and laying strategies, as I do at the website, and at least one high-risk strategy. My high-risk strategy could fall flat on its face at any moment. But we are entering the 18th month of profit, so I will ride that high-risk wave!
