What’s new pussycat?

No, please don’t start throwing your undies at me, I am not – in actual fact – the real Tom Jones.

What I’d like to discuss today is a couple of new ideas which will be finding their way into the Racing Testing Lab at www.whatreallywinsmoney.co.uk. You’ll notice, I hope, a relationship between What Really Wins Money, the newsletter, and www.whatreallywinsmoney.co.uk, the website – which has been getting a bit of spruce up recently.

Well, in May’s edition of What Really Wins Money, I introduce two rather profitable betting ideas and I would like to add these to the Racing Testing Lab.

Here’s a quick look at the ideas…

Double your betting bank in a week

This strategy is simple. We look to double our betting bank over the period of seven bets, using a one-a-day betting approach.

Your goal is simple: find one bet per day at fractional odds of 2/13 or decimal odds of 1.15.

If you find a profitable bet at these odds for seven days, you will double your betting bank.

Let’s look at the maths…

Bet 1 – Odds of 1.15 , £100 stake. Wins. We win £15 profit.

Bet 2 – Wins at the same odds, same stake. Profit of £15.

We carry on over seven bets, all winning £15.

Total profit after those seven days (and I did ring up the lovely Rachel Riley from Countdown to make sure, although she wouldn’t take the call for some reason…), £105.

Your £100 stake becomes £105.

I’l be looking at the day’s football, tennis (and we are into the French Open as I write) and horse racing in order to find that precious 1.15 odds bet per day. It really is achievable and practical and I hope you’ll follow me in the Racing Testing Lab.

Multiple CD Winners

Another strategy I wrote about in What Really Wins Money is a Lay strategy. I must admit I like Laying. We have more horses running for us than against us. It is no wonder that there are a number of lay strategies atwww.whatreallywinsmoney.co.uk.

This Lay strategy looks at one simple element of a race – its competitive nature.

Here’s an example:

What immediately grabs your attention with the race card above?

For me, it is the fact that each horse has a letter underneath its name. These letters signify –

  • C for Course winner
  • D for Distance winner
  • CD for Course and Distance winner
  • BF for Beaten Favourite.

If each of these horses is any one – or more – of the above, then this race looks competitive. Each horse has achieved something in the race. The favourite therefore should have some competition!

By Laying any favourites in these races at odds of 4.5 or higher (7/2 in old money), we’ve made a 29 point profit in just under 100 bets. This excites me, despite the small sample of races.

Follow the selections in the Racing Testing Lab to see if this great profitability can continue.

It is one of my finds of the year. An ‘A-ha!’ moment. The simple fact that favourites at bigger odds tend to lose more often!

A Usain-like round up

A lightning bolt round up now of the tips at www.whatreallywinsmoney.co.ukwhich have really caught my eye this week…

Handicap price gappers

24 successful lays in the last 27 bets and this Lay strategy is now suddenly showing why I was so excited about it last year. This excellent run is proof that handicap races are competitive. Apparent sure things in competitive handicap races are vulnerable! I hope this excellent turnaround continues.

3-5-8

If Ol’ Red Nose, Sir Alex Ferguson, had been employing the 3-5-8 Strategy this week, he’d certainly be describing a recent day as ‘squeaky bum time’.

Earlier this week we hit two consecutive winners over 3.5. Following the Lay ladder, our third bet would be the final bet in the sequence. That bet duly lost.

It is a timely reminder that, although we are edging towards two years of continuous profit, the 3-5-8 strategy is high-risk. Make and take your profits while you may.

A close shave this week but a hope for more profits to come.

Lay the favourite in the biggest field of the day

Ah, my favourite lay strategy from the Racing Testing Lab. We have recently seen a run of 24 consecutive profitable lays for us. Phenomenal!

This had to end of course, and the market bit back with a three day blitz of three favourites winning their selections (boo!). Since then, a run of seven consecutive profitable Lays puts this strategy up there as one of my very favourites.

I hope you’re profiting from the tips at www.whatreallywinsmoney.co.uk and I hope you realise that this portfolio-style approach to betting will pay dividends in the long-term.

Look forward to the new additions to the Racing Testing Lab (beginning next Monday).
