I thought I’d share one of my betting ideas with you this week.

I do a lot of recording of results on Excel spreadsheets for a number of the ideas I have, predominantly focusing on horse racing.

Some of these betting ideas turn out to be duds. Not a profit to be had as a Backer or Layer.

Others produce some surprising results.

Here’s a case in point…

Focus your attention on the three columns entitled OR, TS and RPR. These are all ratings columns.

OR is the ‘Official Rating’, TS is the ‘Top Speed Rating’ and RPR is the ‘Racing Post Rating’.

I began to record the results for those horses that are top of each of these three ratings in a particular race.

In the example above, that horse would be Irish Rookie.

227 bets recorded to date and (drum roll please…), a whopping 30 point profit (another drum roll please…) as a (another drum roll, thank you, if your arms aren’t tired after banging away so much)… LAYER!

I couldn’t believe it.

The horse with the highest Official Rating, Best Top Speed rating, and highest Racing Post Rating is proving to be less than convincing.

Yes, there are some ok priced winners along the way, but it seems that – so far at least – these apparent ‘good things’ are not quite all that.

So do remember this if you want to create a Backing system using the Racing Post Ratings! They are prime fodder for the Layer.

This is just one of a few ideas I have on the back burner in the hope of finding another CONSISTENT profit maker for www.whatreallywinsmoney.co.uk.

This one has distinct promise and is simple as pie to find the selections each day.

The big boys are out!

It must be pre-season. Today sees an utterly meaningless and made-up-on-the-flight-over International Champions Cup between Manchester United and Dortmund.

Yes, folks, the new season will be upon us as Donald Trump is unveiled as the new President! In eletters to come, I’ll be offering my tuppence worth on likely Premier League contenders, dark horses and strong ante-post plays. Watch out for that.

Have a great weekend.
