Right on cue…

A nice bit of detective work in last week’s eletter picked a winner in Cue Card in the Betfair Chase last Saturday. A tasty bit of tipping and that continued for What Really Wins Money members who followed my each way bets yesterday: winners at 26/1 and 5/1 produced an excellent return.

I hope that will continue as this year ends. For you What Really Wins Money subscribers I will be adding more tips onto the website at www.whatreallywinsmoney.co.uk.

Let’s take a look at the major race of the weekend: the Hennessy Gold Cup. There are no write ups this early on so I cannot take a consensus look.

Elsewhere, recent winners of the Hennessy Gold Cup (3pm tomorrow at Newbury) do not include favourites.

Only two favourites have won the last 10 runnings, which makes current market leader Saphir du Reu potentially one to avoid.

Barry Geraghty and Nicky Henderson have won 2 of the last 3 runnings of this race. They do not partner up though this year. Barry Geraghty rides for Philip Hobbs on If In Doubt. Nicky Henderson has employed Nico De Boinville for his horse Bob’s Worth.

These are current 2nd and 5th favourites. I am quite taken by Barry Geraghty’s ability to win on 8/1 and 20/1 shots which makes If In Doubt a reasonable each way shout for me.

At the current odds, If In Doubt is a reasonable each way shout, and with the bookies paying out on 4 places, if Barry can be competitive, we could get a place at least.

The year-end…

As 2016 approaches I’ll be sharing with you the most profitable of my crop of ‘Home-Grown’ betting systems from 2015.  I tend to approach these systems from very much an ‘investment’ perspective.

I have, for instance, some money with my dad in stocks investment and that is how I want, and would encourage you, to approach sports betting.

Find a selection system. Ideally make sure it has profited for 2 or 3 years. (Or if it’s a horse racing idea, use the results database at www.racingpost.com and see how the strategy would have profited in the past.) Find the staking plan which maximises profit and keeps the stakes reasonable, and then go for it.

It’s a simple formula. The key for me is to try to get that horse racing strategy which can be back-tested (as opposed to back-fitted). This way you can create that archive of results.

The other piece of the puzzle is some kind of ability to run your findings through staking plans. This is a must.

Once you can do that, you can create a number of betting systems which all profit long-term. I have two which are 2+ years old and profiting each year. This really adds confidence that future profits can be realised.

All change at WRWM Towers…

The website is due for some big, better changes in 2016, so watch out for that. There’ll be more tipping, video tutorials, and sports specials covering the big events in 2016 (such as the Australian Open tennis, the Cheltenham Festival, Euro 2016 and a lot more besides). I have to say I’ve done really well at these big tennis tournaments in 2015. I do only tend to get involved when the big boys (Serena, Novak etc) and girls (Sharapova) are out.

I want to cover as many high-profile sporting events as I can, so if you know any solid golf writers, let me know.

We’ll see if If In Doubt carries on my reasonable run of tipping in this here eletter.

Have a great weekend!
