We’re some six matches into the Premiership season and patterns and sequences are beginning to unravel. If you can crack the sequences you can get a good angle into a match. I have gone in depth into this in my weekly football trading eletter. Here’s a good example for you…
West Brom – Four clean sheets in their last five matches – three consecutive away Under 1.5 Goals matches and clean sheets.
Look who’s clicked into gear! This is the clear influence of manager Tony Pulis, who is renowned for a sturdy defence. What would you expect now from West Brom, based on these early patterns? How would this knowledge influence your decision making?
Leicester City – have scored and conceded in all matches, unbeaten and two consecutive matches saw them 2-0 down and not lose.
Leicester are in stark contrast to West Brom. Knowing what we know about Leicester City, we expect goals don’t we? How does this knowledge translate into your decision making? Think goals before halftime (lay the 0-0 halftime score). Think Over 2.5 Goals. Lay any side leading 2-0 in a Leicester City match.
If I have time I will work on these patterns and sequences for all major European leagues and let you know the key patterns.
These sequences and patterns are great eye-openers as to the characteristic of a team.
What do Aston Villa, Stoke City, Newcastle United and Sunderland have in common? They are yet to win a match. This cannot continue, can it? How is this information useful? What if these teams meet each other and still have not won a match? Can we take a chance and logically lay the draw in the hope one of them ends their sequence without a win?
There’s an excellent race card at Newmarket tomorrow and I’ll take a quick look through the card. The Betting Forecast is available early for this meeting.
155 Newmarket Saturday 25th September 2015
A ten-runner listed race, so think each way betting. The four previous runnings of this race saw the favourites lose. Will that continue? Lavender Lane is the Betting Forecast favourite.
As this looks an open race, I would consider Muffri ‘ha and Light and Shade each way. A two-horse assault for me.
230 Newmarket Saturday 25th September 2015
This is a currently 12-runner listed race. Three favourites have won in the last four races. Journey is the Betting Forecast favourite. It is worth checking the market though for the favourite. There does not tend to be a surprise in the betting. Only two winners over 7/1 in the last 10 years, so look for horses 7/1 and under and do utilise each way betting for these competitive races, so that we can take advantage of any place only payouts.
Sir Michael Stoute has won this race twice recently with favourites. If his Asyad is favourite, back it.

A seven-runner group 2 for the fillies. So put the blinkers on them if there’s a handbag or shoe shop near the start.
The last five winners have been at odds of 5/1 and under. Will the market for this two-year-old race continue to be accurate?
The Betting Forecast shows 7/4 Hawksmoor, 7/2 Doubly Motivated and 4/1 Promising Run as the horses under 5/1. If that is mirrored in the betting market, then these three horses are the ones shortlisted. There have only been two winning favourites in ten years: one came last year.

A potential 16-runner two-year-old race. Understandably there has been only one winning favourite in the last six runnings. Such a competitive race makes it tough to call. I note Sir Michael Stoute is a three-time winner. He runs Shabaab and Fidaawy and I would back these horses each-way.
